Metal, grease, and sweat. This is what Machinima’s new web series “Hawken” is all about. Set in an environment of urban decay and crawling with mechwarrior suit-donning soldiers, “Hawken” looks to be a promising original science fiction web series. The first of the metal churning episodes will begin in 2013 and is being directed by Jeremiah O’Flaherty, art director for “Gears of War.” In an exclusive trailer provided to NMR, viewers are introduced to a few militaristic characters and their intriguing agendas.
The web series is inspired by the highly anticipated underground indie game with the same namesake, arriving on 12-12-12. The exciting new game is best described in the words of its creator, Adhesive games: “Hawken is a multiplayer mech combat game. The focus is on creating an intense and enjoyable battle experience that captures the feeling of piloting a heavy war machine while keeping the action fast-paced and strategic.”
A Machinima representative told NMR:
“The new Hawken live action trailer is amazing, and we’re so excited to be working with Meteor to help spread the word about the upcoming, groundbreaking live action we series and game!”
I look forward to the web series because it’s sure to be intense and intriguing. As well, the idea of cross-promoting a show and game together is a sound marketing strategy. Now if only I could pick up a real Mech-Armored suit at the local car dealership:
