Just when I thought David Choi and the guys at Wong Fu Productions couldn’t possibly hold up their streak of thought-provoking and heartwarming music videos, they prove me wrong yet again. This time, it’s with the release of their newest music video, “Lucky Guy.”
When we asked David how this is different from all the other music videos he’s done with Wong Fu, he simply said:
“It’s another great music video produced and directed by Wong Fu, and I think people will be able to relate to this. I think it’s a topic that hits home for a lot of people.”
I would have to agree with David on that one. This music video definitely shows Wong Fu’s talent for storytelling, which in my opinion has been one of the biggest components in their successes in new media and beyond. Their video is a moving interpretation of “Lucky Guy,” but I had one more final question for David: did the inspiration for this song come from something he experienced in the past? Is one of the characters in the music video a symbol of himself?
“Yup, the story is real and based on my life. I definitely relate to the soldier in the music video, but will end up like the old man.”
So without further ado, I will leave you to watch David’s new music video below (bonus: can you guys spot our friend, Taryn Southern?):
