SMOSH Becomes The #1 Most-Subscribed YouTube Channel

[UPDATED 6:31 p.m. PST] It looks like Ray William Johnson (former #1 most subscribed YouTube Channel) will be working with Smosh on an upcoming video and will be filming tomorrow!

So the maniac twosome of SMOSH just reclaimed the title of being the #1 channel on YouTube!

NMR wants to congratulate Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla on their long, beautiful (some might even say poetic, but that might be overly dramatic … nah, fuck it) poetic road to the top. Having now just passed Ray William Johnson somewhere around the 6.7 million subscriber mark, they are the undisputed kings of YouTube. And according to NMR, they also have the Best Hair. Nice!

It was in late December, 2012 (those were simpler times), when Smosh bumped Nigahiga out of the #2 spot, and were staring up at the crown. Back then, they were 86,079 away from the top, and rising fast — 86,079 in a couple weeks kind of fast. But now, they are sitting alone at the top of the YouTube pyramid and breathing rarefied air. In fact, at this rate they should be the first creator channel in YouTube history to reach the 7,000,000 subscriber mark! And better still, that’ll probably happen some time in the not too distant future. And when that happens, I’ll eat some cake for them. Actually, chances are good that I’ll eat some cake anyway, because, hey! I like cake.

Congrats, guys, from your friends at NMR! We can’t wait to see what you guys do next (especially if it involves cake!).
