Two of Europe’s biggest YouTube comedians are partnering up with Base79, the largest YouTube network in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
French prankster Remi Gaillard and Spanish video game vlogger and comedian ElrubiusOMG (aka Ruben Doblas) will work with Base79 to develop their audiences, syndicate their content to other platforms and handle their marketing resources.
Gaillard is known for his dangerous hidden camera pranks such as his recreation of “Mario Kart” during rush hour and dressing up as the Twitter bird and “following” people. His videos have garnered more than 1 billion views, and he boasts more than 2 million subscribers.
Doblas’s YouTube channel focuses on video games, although he occasionally makes prank videos and vlogs about various topics. The ElrubiusOMG channel has more than 222 million views and more than 2 million subscribers.
Base79 CEO Ashley McKenzie welcomed Remi Gaillard and ElrubiusOMG to the company: “These global talents are attracting audiences of billions every year. To put these talents into perspective; Remi has a greater audience than Comedy Central, Top Gear, XFactor-US and The Red Bull Channel! and ElRubius is the fastest growing talent in Spain, with enormous potential to reach huge global audiences of Spanish speakers. It’s great to see that global talent, whether it’s established or up-and-coming now looks at Base79 as clear leaders in online video and one of the only truly global multi-channel networks.”
