Break out your sonic screwdrivers, quantum spanners or whatever you use to turn on your computer because “Untitled Web Series about a Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time” is coming back for a second season.
“Untitled Web Series…” has sort of a murky past, so let’s clear that up first:
- In an episode of the show “Community,” a “Dr. Who” parody show called “Inspector Spacetime” appeared. Travis Richey, creator of “Untitled Web Series…” played the titular Inspector.
- Richey, sensing that “Inspector Spacetime” could flourish outside of “Community,” launched an Inspector web series.
- NBC, the network “Community” airs on, was not having any of this, and Richey was forced to rename the series “Untitled Web Series about a Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time.”
In so many words, “Untitled Web Series…” is a parody of “Inspector Spacetime,” which is a parody of “Dr. Who.” Ah, my brain.
Richey spoke about the upcoming season: “Season 2 goes above and beyond Season 1 in every way. Characters are deeper, story is bigger, and the scope is just way scopier. We still had to write for a budget, because we knew we didn’t have a million dollars to spend, but seriously, I’m just bursting knowing what I know about Season 2 and not being able to tell people about it.”
After a successful first season, the Inspector is launching a Kickstarter to help fund season two. This second season promises to be bigger than ever as celebrity guest stars are already lining up to appear in the show including “The Big Bang Theory’s” Mayim Bialik and “Star Trek: Voyager’s” Robert Picardo.
“I’m over the moon about being able to work with Robert Picardo.” Richey explains “I’ve been aware of him almost my whole life, from watching the “Wonder Years” and “China Beach” with my mom to his turn as Johnny Cab in “Total Recall” to, of course, one of the absolute best parts of “Star Trek: Voyager.” And now, after having shot his scenes for the Prequel Episode, I can say that he is one of the kindest, most generous actors I’ve ever had the pleasure of being threatened by!”
