Boring Golden Globes? Not With Celeb Trend Cumberbombing!

We would love to bring you some crazy, trashy gossip from the 72 Annual Golden Globe Awards that went down online, but so far everyone is behaving themselves. No major corporations have sent embarrassing tweets, no celebs have posted an outraged loser rant to YouTube, and all the nipples have stayed securely in their tops. So what’s a new media magazine to report on during the second most prestigious awards show behind the Oscars (sorry, Nobel Prizes)?

How about a special shoutout to online fan favorite Benedict Cumberbatch, the actor who stars in TVs “Sherlock” series (one of several apparently) and who has a female following that calls themselves the “Cumberb*tches.”

The odd-looking Brit who thousands are enamoured with around the world has begun a sort of trend where he pops up randomly in selfies, assisted by photoshop, photobombing the hell out of other pop culture. Naturally, it is called a “Cumberbomb.” And he pulled it off again at the Golden Globes tonight.

The trend began where he actually photobombed a pic of U2 at the most recent Oscars — now he shows up in the Hobbit, other photo ops, and even photobombing himself. Here are some of our favorite Cumberbombs:

This is fun and pretty harmless … not like when Adrian Brody was mouth-kissing actresses at awards shows and being all creepy about it, so share this fun little social media trend.
