Gamescom 2015: 7 Important Things We’ve Learned So Far

Untitled-1

So for those of you who don’t know, Gamescom is the world’s largest video game convention in the world and it is held in Cologne, Germany. Even though E3 was held this year and several games were announced this years, Gamescom is the place where you will get more information on those games, you will get confirmed dates, and you are going to like it because that’s what gamers want: more information on the games they yearn for. So, let’s get started, shall we?

Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst

We got our first look at Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst and it looks absolutely stunning. The first thing you notice of the bat is that it’s running at 60 fps (frames per second) and that makes such a difference. Everything is so fluid and the colors are absolutely vivid. This game is slated to come out on February 23rd, 2015.

Quantum Break

Not only was gameplay finally shown off, but this game finally has a release date, which is April 5th, 2016. Another cool thing about this game is that a digital series is being to produced so that “how you play the game impacts the show, and the show informs how you play the game.” Personally, this is one of the coolest things I’ve ever heard! I honestly hope it’s as awesome as it sounds.

Xbox’s Backwards Compatibility

This incredible feature will become available to everyone in November, and what’s even greater is that we get to move our saved files from the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One. And from this point forward, all future Xbox 360 games that are Gold titles will be backwards compatible on Xbox One.

Need For Speed

The amazing thing about this reboot to the 20-year-old franchise is that it is combining elements from its past, iconic games with live action shots. The “icons” in the game are actual people that are huge names in the racing world, and it seems like it’s the protagonist’s job to impress them.

Star Wars Battlefront’s Fighter Squadron Mode

It’s been everyone’s dream to be able to fly an X-Wing, a TIE Fighter or the legendary Millennium Falcon and this is the closest you’ll be able to do that. The feature shows off a third-person view and a first-person view and it seems like these dog fights will be happening from time to time, like any other battle would.

Mega Man Legacy Collection

Releases dates were finally … well, released! The game will be released for PS4, Xbox One and PC on August 25th and in early 2016 for 3DS. People were worried that this game was not going to be released for the 3DS, but then that was cleared on by Capcom’s Unity blog. It will be sold for $15, but the physical copies will be sold at a later date and for $30. This is definitely a game that I’m grabbing immediately for my PC.

Scalebound

It’s you and your very own dragon. What’s not to like about this game!? Another cool feature is that this game will have 4-player co-op, so then it’ll be even more of a blast!

There are a few more days left for Gamescom, so let us know which games you’re excited for!
