Comedy Music Video Asks: Is Emoji the Future of Hip Hop?

If a picture is worth a thousand words, this jam is worth a million raps. If something new isn’t innovative, it has to be retro in order to be cool. Like 1800s beards, 1950s glasses, and (in this case) hieroglyphics. That’s the subject of Austin Martinez’ latest comedy music video. You may have heard of them with their comedy hit Things You Can Be on Halloween Besides Naked .

Austin Martinez, consisting of NYC comedy duo Molly Austin and Shamikah Martinez, tackle emoji-speak in their latest video. We’ve been following them for a while, and we always love the production value that goes into these videos. From one-of-a-kind outfits to slick cuts and backgrounds, Austin Martinez videos are always an entertaining watch. There are also some slick, copy-able dance moves presented in this video.

It’s refreshing to see more female comedy teams entering the spotlight. The roads paved by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are now being trod by comedy duos such as Austin Martinez and Ilana Glazer/Abbi Jacobson of Broad City.
