DC Movies VS Marvel Movies: The Advantage Goes To DC

DC Has Better Villains

Anyone of these guys would make a better villain than Nebula

Quick, who is your favorite MCU villain besides Loki.

Malekith?

Annihilatrix?

Ronan The Accuser?

Aldrich Killian?

Trick question, they all suck. You probably didn’t even notice that I made one up because most of them have been so forgettable. Marvel has done a spectacular job of bringing their heroes to life on the big screen, but their villains have been seriously lacking. Ultron was underwhelming and Iron Monger, Whiplash, and Yellowjacket were all pretty much the same villain. Killgrave from Jessica Jones was a legitimately great villain, but he’s also *spoilers* dead now, rendering him unavailable for future adventures. So far Loki is the only great recurring villain Marvel has but he can’t be in every movie, and besides, Thor: The Dark World kind of set him up as an antihero.

Meanwhile DC has so many great villains that they are releasing Suicide Squad, a movie full of nothing but villains. Hell, Batman’s rogues gallery alone is enough to eclipse all of Marvel’s baddies. Not to mention DC has the Joker, one of the greatest villains of all time. The Joker is a character so complex and twisted that every actor who has tackled the role has walked away changed to some degree, usually for the worse. And again, it’s not that it’s one actor who forever “is” the Joker. It will always be Heath Ledger’s most memorable role, but Jack Nicholson and Mark Hamill were excellent – and unique – versions of the same character.

That’s not to say that Marvel doesn’t have any great villains, Magneto, Galactus, and Doctor Doom would make great foils for the Avengers…if their film rights didn’t belong to other studios.

Which brings us to…
