David Lee Roth to Reunite With Van Halen

Fans of the rock band Van Halen woke up Christmas morning to what is definitely a surprise gift.

According to MTV.com, The 70s and 80s powerhouse announced, via the rock band’s website, that original lead singer David Lee Roth has returned to front the band on their upcoming tour.

The news spread like wild fire and quickly became a trending topic on Twitter in the Los Angeles area.

@JohnFugelsang tweeted, “The best part of the Van Halen – David Lee Roth reunion tour? The expressions of horror on teenagers dragged there by Dad.”

While @BorowitzReport had a more snarky response to the news,“BREAKING: Oldest Man in the World to Rejoin Van Halen.”

MTV News reported, “In addition to the tour, the group are working on their first album of new material with Roth in 27 years. They recently signed to Interscope Records after spending their entire career on Warner Bros. Records.”

On Monday, the band posted a video on their website showing Roth dancing on the Roxy Theatre stage to classic Van Halen songs while the others jammed along, giving fans a taste of what’s to come.

The eccentric 57-year-old singer has had a wild past with the band, getting fired for his alcoholic, partying ways amongst other turmoil.

The band consists of Eddie Van Halen on guitar, Alex Van Halen on drums, and Eddie’s son, Wolfgang on bass.

The band has promised tickets for the upcoming tour to go on sale as early as January 10th, 2012.
