Young DJ/producer, Erik van den Boom, known as Erik Arbores, has continued to impress listeners all over the world with his hard-hitting tracks.
The 14-year-old prodigy was recently featured in Billboard Magazine just a week after Arbores released his first EP “Take It,” with Zouk Recordings, a label owned by Armada Music. Since its September 2011 release, the EP has been regularly played on Sirius XM’s BPM channel and has also topped the Dutch iTunes chart with tracks including “Bliss,” “Take It” and “Transit.”
Arbores began playing the piano at 4 years old and learned to play both classical and modern pieces. Armadamusic.com said that in the summer of 2008, Arbores began to incorporate his ability to play the piano into his production software, Fruity Loops Studio.
“After I had started to play the piano, it didn’t take long for me to improvise on the piano pieces I had studied. I also started playing pop songs, after hearing them on the radio. Since that was going so well, I quickly got into composing my own songs,” Arbores told armadamusic.com.
“After having bought Fruity Loops, I started experimenting with electronic sounds and that got me into EDM, even though I still produce pop music as well. It is this drive in dance music, the energy it contains, that appeals me so much,” he said.
According to djnews.be, the talented musician is also a science wiz. He’s already tested out of high school five years earlier than the average student in the Dutch school system. Though Arbores is currently signed to Armada Music, he still has to worry about homework and studying for his applied physics major at the Delft University of Technology. Bravo, kid, you rock!
