Xbox 360’s Kinect is now joining Nintendo’s Wii and Sony’s Playstation 3 in showing online videos on TV. YouTube announced that they created a new app allowing gamers to stream videos on TV through the Kinect.
Gamers who are already part of the Xbox Live Preview Program are able to access it now as beta participants.
ReelSEO.com reported that “gaming consoles are the main source for watching online video on TV.” The fact that Xbox 360 didn’t have a browser disallowed it from showing YouTube videos years before when the Wii and Playstation 3 started doing it.
Unfortunately, Microsoft is no longer enrolling new participants to the preview program, but sooner or later it will become available to the rest of us.
The YouTube blog stated that through the app, gamers could access tutorial videos to help them through a level, check out the latest game reviews or simply see “the most popular trending videos” on the site.
