No Pants Subway Ride 2012

On Sunday, Jan. 8, when the cold winter air looms over New York, Istanbul and Berlin, these three cities participated in Improv Everywhere’s annual No Pants Subway Ride 2012.

According to ImprovEverywhere.com, the first No Pants Subway Ride was organized by seven comedians in New York as a prank, but has since turned “into an international celebration of silliness.”

A record 59 cities and 27 countries participated in the impromptu event, but New York is a veteran as it was their 11th year riding the subways pant-less.

ImprovEverywhere.com reported that although they had issues with police in the past, this year they were much friendlier and came out to escort them despite the fact that the event is “completely unauthorized.”

The participants in Istanbul, Turkey, however, were not as lucky as law enforcements detained participants for about an hour and even started deleting photos non-participants were taking.

The video shows an old man in a santa hat, a mother with her infant dancing to “La Bamba” and a man laughing as he scoots away from the pant-less subway riders.
