Social Media Continues the Revolution

It’s no shock to say that social media is here to stay. Over 95 percent of people born in the 1980s and early 90s are connected through social media.

The expansion of social media is expected to revolutionize commerce and industries, quickly leaving the industrial revolution in its wake.

At times social media seemed like a trend, a beacon of media interaction that would burn bright but eventually fade away. To many, social media seemed like an incredible idea in theory, but in practice would never thrive; it would surely follow the Laserdisc and Dreamcast into the world of campy nostalgia.

2012 is here and social media is more robust then ever. In this video posted by The Total Profit, new media, in most of its forms, is broken down into some stunning statistics.

A few of the more impressive statistics include:

  • One out of every eight married couples met online.
  • Facebook added over 200 million users in one year.
  • 80 percent of companies use social media for recruitment.
