Taylor Swift Offered the Role of Eponine

Taylor Swift has been offered the role of Eponine in the big screen adaptation of Victor Hugo’s “Les Miserables,” and although she has not accepted the role yet, Swift fans are ecstatic about her playing the heartbroken character.“Since today, I’m a fan of Les Miserables #swiftything,” @_Swifty4ever_ tweeted.

Kristin Chenoweth also chimed in on the trending topic offering her support to the Grammy winning singer saying, “I think she’ll be great!”

According to Twitchfilm.com, if Swift chooses to accept the role in the book turned broadway musical, she will be filming alongside Hugh Jackman, Helena Bonham Carter, Russell Crowe, Sacha Baron Cohen, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried who, according to Variety.com, “is in the final negotiations to play Cosette[…]”

According to celebrity circuit via CBSNews.com, Tom Hooper, who is directing the film, wants all actors to sing live and not use singing doubles.

They also reported that Swift beat out Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood for the part.

However, not every Twitter member is happy about Univeral and Hooper’s decision in casting the young star who, according to HuffingtonPost.com has had small acting gigs in “music videos, a part in ‘Valentine’s Day,’ a guest spot on ‘CSI’ and upcoming voice acting in ‘The Lorax’.”

@bestyworsty left a snarky tweet, comparing Swift’s personality to Epinone’s, stating she is ideal for the part.

“tbh, eponine is a dumb girl whose life revolves around feeling sorry for herself over a boy, so maybe taylor swift [sic.] is perfect for the part,” @bestworsty tweeted.

@GabrielleAston not only expressed her thoughts on the country singer playing Epinone, but even offered her own suggestion.

“Okaaaay, really, taylor swift [sic.] for eponine [sic.]?? Lets be real here! Give it to the true broadway star, Lea Michelle!!!!!!!!” @GabrielleAston tweeted.

Even Chenoweth got negative feedback for expressing her positive outlook on the casting. She got replies to her tweet saying “I may unfollow you for thinking Taylor Swift could play Eponine,” by @Ry_Guy5 and retweeted by @EmWhitstonLee.

The award-winning singer certainly has the voice to play the part, but will she prove the negative tweeters right with her acting abilities? It seems we will have to wait and see when “Les Miserables” comes out in theaters Dec. 7.
