YouTube’s Top 10 List: Where the Ladies at!?

A big congratulations goes out to Jenna Marbles for making the list of top 10 most subscribed YouTube channels. Jenna Marbles knocked kevjumba off the Top 10 Ranking, securing a spot for herself.

In a list that has been dominated by men, this is an impressive accomplishment that should not be overlooked because according to our research never before has a woman been in a top 10 spot.`

What is most surprising about the lack of women in the top 10, is the fact that studies show that the main demographic of YouTube users are female.

Why aren’t there more women on the top 10?

Certainly the talent is there. It’s not an issue of how long they have been on YouTube. Jenna Marbles created her YouTube channel in 2010 and popular beauty guru Michelle Phan created her YouTube channel in 2006. It’s also not an issue of the content being provided. Nine out of the 10 top ranked women on YouTube are independent and each average over 100 million views each.

As a woman, I would like to see the top 10 most subscribed YouTube channels grow more diverse.  Why do you think more women aren’t in the top 10? Let us know in the comments.
