As another example of how established artists transition into new media ventures, Jack White, formerly of the duo The White Stripes, is collaborating with VEVO and actor/director Gary Oldman for a live performance on the “American Express Unstaged” web program Friday night at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
His live performance on VEVO coincides with his promotion of his debut solo album “Blunderbuss,” which was released Tuesday.
Oldman, famous for his roles in the “Harry Potter” series and “The Dark Knight” will direct the event and an exclusive documentary featuring White and Oldman will be released tomorrow morning at 9 AM ET in the run-up to the live event.
The event is expected to have a hands-on element for fans where they can contribute photos for a digital art installation and access exclusive photos of Jack White from the making of the performance.
The “American Express Unstaged” web series is a partnership with VEVO, American Express and YouTube as a way for fans to connect to artists before, during and after the show. The live performance will be streamed on Jack White’s VEVO site on YouTube as well as on VEVO’s free mobile apps for the iPhone, iPad and Android and on VEVO’S mobile YouTube site.
Some recent performers on the “American Express Unstage” series include Mary J. Blige, Coldplay and Arcade Fire.
