Social media has provided both a launching pad and a jumpstart for the careers of some of the top celebrities of the 21st Century. It is no coincidence that Twitter’s top followed celebrities like Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Justin Bieber rank in the top 10 on “Forbes Top 100 Celebrities List,” surpassing even seasoned stars like Johnny Depp. Generation Y celebrities have taken to Twitter and Facebook to release exclusive content, talk directly with their fans and dispel any unpleasant rumors that may be floating around, and as a result, have grown their fan base by superstar proportions.
The same superfans who will pitch a tent on a sidewalk for concert tickets, spend hours on the phone trying to win backstage passes and wear a Justin Bieber shirt to school everyday of the week are now able to interact directly with the object of their celebrity obsession thanks to Social Media. Formerly untouchable superstars are now more available than ever to their fanboys and girls, thanks to Twitter and Facebook. Those celebrities who have fully realized the power of social media are all A’s in our book, but because some just do it better than others, here is the list of the top 10 most social media savvy celebs:
