Reckless Tortuga describe themselves as “A Sketch Comedy Adventure,” and with their unique blend of eccentric sketch comedy it’s an apt description. Sketch comedy has always been one of the most popular genres on YouTube and now, with higher quality and an eye towards scripted narrative, the format continues to grow in popularity. Reckless Tortuga have set themselves apart as one of YouTube’s biggest names in comedy with over 800,000 subscribers and millions of video views. After Machinima’s network affiliate panel, I spoke with Reckless Tortuga actor and writer Eric Pumphrey and director/cinematographer Jason Schnell about their channel’s recipe for genuinely entertaining YouTube entertainment and what’s next for Reckless Tortuga.
