DanceOn’s signature series “Dance Showdown” featuring D-Trix is back for a second season, and 12 YouTube celebrities are fighting for a bigger-than-before grand prize of $100,000.
Viewers will get the chance to watch these dozen personalities dance their way to the top over 11 weeks starting next Friday, Oct. 5. Competing this season are Alphacat, Andrew Garcia, BrittaniLouiseTaylor, Chester See, Chimneyswift11, ExoticJess, meghanrosette, Miss Hannah Minx, ONLYUSEmeBLADE, PrankvsPrank, StilaBabe09 and Screen Team. Joey Fatone and Laurieann Gibson will judge those YouTube stars, and Shane Dawson, Ryan Higa and NMR friend Dave Days alternate as guest judges. The rules are different from last season, as audience votes alone won’t determine a Dance Showdown Champion. All the contestants will be paired with internationally-renowned professional dancers and will be critiqued by Fatone, Gibson and one of the three guest judges. The two contestants who get the highest scores move on to the next round while viewers choose two others to join them. The contestant who wins both the “Judges Award” and the “Audience Award” in the final round becomes the Dance Showdown Champion.
Amanda Taylor, CEO of DanceOn, said in a press release that the dance competition format is working and can flourish online. She adds:
“We are taking the success of Season One and adding mainstream talent from network TV dance related shows to create quality content that rivals the TV viewing experience and activates social engagement. We couldn’t be more excited to give our fans more of what they loved from Season One.”
The first season of “Dance Showdown,” in which WoodysGamerTag claimed the grand prize of $25,000, garnered an average viewership of more than half a million.
