5 Best Free Classic Horror Films On YouTube

As you’re sitting at home wondering which horror flick to watch on Halloween, don’t forget that some of the great horror classics can be found on YouTube. While many of them will set you back a few bucks, there are also plenty of films you can watch for free. Since there are so many to choose from, here are five of the best free horror classics worth watching on YouTube.

1) Freaks (1932)

This movie scared people so much back when it was released in 1932 that it’s only been relevant since the early 1960s, when people started to appreciate it as a cult classic. How can you not love the fact that director Tod Browning brought in actual sideshow performers for many of the roles in the film, which focuses on “freaks” plotting revenge against a gold digging trapeze artist?

2) Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 (1988)

Whether or not somebody will remake Hellraiser is still unclear. Fortunately, for you Pinheads out there, you can watch one of the many Hellraiser sequels out on YouTube, but “Hellbound: Hellraiser 2” — with more violence than the first film — is the only one that’s free.

3) Re-Animator (1985)

Medical students trying to bring the dead back to life meet some unfortunate consequences in this “Frankenstein”-esque movie from the 1980s. “Re-Animator” combines both gore and comedy as these student try to control their subjects, who end up turning into violent zombies.

4) The Wolf Man (1941)

If you like howling noises in the middle of the night, you’ll enjoy “The Wolf Man.” This hair-raising classic from 1941 tells the story of a man visiting his ancestral home, then becomes a werewolf after being bitten by one.

5) Frankenstein (1931)

It’s alive! You can check out the original 1931 “Frankenstein” without paying a dime and get spooked as Frankenstein’s monster (played by Boris Karloff) terrorizes a small community. Click here to watch the film.
