I’m starting to feel like marching band formations are the new dancing Filipino prisoners. How much is too much? If the current numbers are accurate though (and why would they not be?), apparently the world wants all the marching band content it can shake a stick at.
Ohio State University, the latest to jump on the YouTube-whore bandwagon, has over a million views now for their halftime salute to all things gaming. From Super Mario Bros. to Tetris to Halo, the marching band moved and tooted, blaring out the popular theme songs as they arranged into iconic images from their video games. I was not among the wowed though. I’m going to be brutally honest here: I think Cal did it way better and way earlier with their own halftime marching band tribute to gaming back in 2007. This “copycat” move stinks of desperation by OSU after their 8-minute tribute to space failed to pile up the big online numbers three weeks ago. Didn’t think I knew about that, did you? Your shameless pandering has not gone unnoticed, Ohio State.
It shouldn’t be long before we see “The Real Housewives of the OSU Marching Band.”
