Do you have what it takes to make the next “Shaun of the Dead” or “The Cabin the Woods”?
Just in time for Halloween and the DVD and Blu-ray release of Joss Whedon’s critically-acclaimed piece “The Cabin in the Woods,” Lionsgate and Vimeo are asking you to submit your best spoof horror short film for a chance at a $10,000 prize. Upload your film on Vimeo and fill out the entry form right here. You must be 18 years or older to enter, and your film must be 10 minutes or less in length. In addition to the $10,000 grand prize, ten first prize winner will get a complimentary “The Cabin in the Woods” DVD.
It’s interesting that Vimeo and Lionsgate hasn’t defined what makes a “spoof” in the contest rules, so I’m sure you’ll find entries that resemble the brilliance of “Shaun of the Dead” or the crass tackiness of any of the last few “Child’s Play” sequels. If you know you can make people chuckle while being scared at the same time, you better hurry! Remember to submit your film to Vimeo by October 23 at midnight.
