Watch This Now: ‘Natural Phenomena’ Video Juxtaposes Nature and City

It took six months for Canadian photographer Reid Gower to grab the fascinating time-lapse shots of famous scenery from the Alaskan wilderness and dramatic urban skylines from Seattle for the video that has a lot of people on the Internet buzzing.

He juxtaposes both the wondrous beauty of nature and the illuminating allure of urban areas in his time-lapse Vimeo video “Natural Phenomena,” which was released Monday and has since shot to the top of Reddit.

In his description of the video, Gower says that skyscrapers and urban landscapes are just as natural as what is found in nature: “Skyscrapers and spacecraft may seem unnatural, but they’re just as much a part of the natural order as beaver dams and bird nests. Boring electrical lines hint at the energy solution of a mammalian species. Open your eyes to the world you’ve grown accustomed to, and rejoice in the fact that you can participate in the human project.”

Gower later said in a Reddit thread that he shot this “on a whim” and was just having fun while making “Natural Phenomena.”

Check the video out and see if you can spot some famous landmarks.
