The description on their “America Votes 2012” counter states that it is a “representation of people on Facebook who clicked an Election Day prompt to share with their friends that they’re voting in the 2012 U.S. election.”

As of 2p.m. PT, the counter has tracked more than 5,000,000 people who declared they have voted.
