A growing number of traditional media companies like Discovery Communications are viewing YouTube productions as the future of entertainment. They view online video content in such high regard that they have bought companies that are dedicated to creating such entertainment outright. These acquisitions not only fuse traditional media with new media, but also shrink the number of independent producers creating web video content.
