‘2012: What Brought Us Together’ Compiles Top Viral Videos and Events of the Year [VIDEO]

Get your tissue boxes ready, because out of the thousands of 2012 year in review videos uploaded on YouTube, this one is probably the most emotional.

Canadian YouTube user Jean-Louis Nguyen compiled dozens of viral videos, heartbreaking stories and uplifting events that attracted global interest all into one package titled “2012: What Brought Us Together.” Starting with the recent tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut and Hurricane Sandy, the roughly six-minute retrospective slowly transitions from stories that united the world in grief to uplifting moments like the London Olympic Games, the dramatic elephant rescue in Kenya and yes, the plethora of “Gangnam Style” parodies.

The YouTube creator summarized the video in the description, writing: “It was a year of breakthroughs, adversity, accomplishments. And the web shared all of it. From the highest sky-dive to the fastest running man, a first vote or last mission, joys and tragedies, grumpy cats and flash mobs, from silly to serious; whatever it is that we shared in 2012, here is a compilation.”
