New Year’s Eve Live TV Disaster May Be 2013’s First Unintentionally Funny Viral Video

Even though my New Year’s Eve was not as exciting as the stuff you see on television or those $100 cover charge parties on the Sunset Strip, I wouldn’t trade my New Year’s Eve for anything, especially since videos like this on YouTube are around. One Southern California’s TV station had a very, err, interesting attempt at a New Year’s Eve live event and, well, it was a disaster.

You would think that a New Year’s Eve event featuring Mario Lopez, Eva Longoria, Joey Lawrence and Jennifer Love Hewitt would be a decent alternative to Ryan Seacrest counting down to 2013 in Times Square. Unfortunately, none of these names showed up to KDOC’s “First Night 2013” broadcast, and instead you have a washed up Jamie Kennedy hosting the event, uncoordinated producers and interviewers, a really stoned Macy Gray and a few f-bombs in between by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

My guess is that most people in Southern California didn’t bother to watch this shit show when it first aired. If it wasn’t for YouTuber BlackDudeWhiteChick recording this New Year’s Eve disaster and fellow comedians like Patton Oswalt, Graham Norton and NMR friend Jason Horton retweeting it to their followers, we may never have known about Macy Gray’s really, really doped-out performance or how terrible this TV station is at live programming.

Ladies and gentlemen, prepare yourselves for the first unintentionally funny viral video of 2013.
