NASA and CSA Astronauts To Host First-Ever Google+ Hangout In Space

Astronauts from NASA and the Canadian Space Agency will field questions from space enthusiasts during their first Google+ Hangout from the International Space Station Feb. 22 at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT.

Kevin Ford and Tom Mashburn of NASA and Chris Hadfield of the Canadian Space Agency are expected to participate in the Google+ Hangout. Hadfield previous engaged with space enthusiasts back in December in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) before heading to the International Space Station.

NASA has embraced social media in the past few years by connecting with and answering the public’s questions through Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms. They have gone so far as to extend invitations to influential followers of their social media pages to tour facilities and attend shuttle launches.

The space agency has also collaborated with YouTube to promote science education through the YouTube Space Lab at the International Space Station.
