There are few people who have yet to hear of John Green’s acclaimed novel “The Fault In Our Stars.” A novel said to make readers laugh as hard as it will make them cry, “The Fault In Our Stars” has been named Time magazine’s #1 fiction book of 2012. Green is most notably known in the social media world from his YouTube channel “Vlog Brothers” which he and his brother Hank Green started back in 2007.
Author of an award winning novel, check. YouTube legend, double check. And now to add another feather to his hat, it was just announced today that Josh Boone, who previously wrote and directed “Stuck in Love,” will be directing Fox’s adaptation of Green’s novel.
Rumors have been circulating throughout the Hollywood streets of Boone’s connection to the upcoming movie after a series of tweets from Green connected together the author, director and actress Shailene Woodley. Boone revealed in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter that he has a very personal connection to this novel, which he credits with helping him cope with the loss of a close friend:
“John’s book came along just when I needed it,” shares Boone. “It pierced my heart and helped me deal with my grief. I laughed and cried and was left with an overwhelming feeling of hope. That our lives matter, that the love and kindness we share with others reverberates long after we’re gone. I feel the weight and responsibility to get this right and give his readers and devoted fans as pure a translation as possible. We hope to create a little infinity within this film that fans can revisit over and over.”
While names of the cast have yet to be announced, filming is scheduled to begin this summer.
