Gervais is reviving his most detestable character as part of his new YouTube channel, which went live today. The new channel will feature sketches and podcasts as well as clips from his extensive body of work on television.
The British comedian told the Guardian that he was excited to bring David Brent back to his fans and that YouTube allows him to make “new content to be made available without the limitations of schedules and international restrictions.”

YouTube has been courting prominent production companies and actors like Gervais to set up their own channels as part of its $100 million original channels push. This week, comedians Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, Reggie Watts and Tim & Eric announced the creation of JASH, a YouTube channel that will “offer all its comedic partners complete creative autonomy.”
