Hulu reached the 4 million subscriber mark in the first quarter of this year, acting CEO Andy Forssell announced on the company blog today.
Forssell also announced that its mobile reach is expanding and will make up for 15 percent of the video streaming site’s consumption for 2013-2014. Also, Hulu viewing in living rooms is also growing and now takes up 29 percent of views.
The acting CEO told Ad Age how Hulu has changed in the past two years: “When we started Hulu was only available on computers; now we’re on 350 million connected devices.”
The company also announced to Ad Age that it reached a billion streams for the first time this quarter.
Besides touting its growing subscriber base and its billion streams milestone, Hulu presented to advertisers today its slate of original content that current interim CEO Forssell announced on the company blog earlier this year such as “The Awesomes” and “Mother Up!” In addition, the video streaming site also announced on its blog two new original series, “Quickdraw,” a comedy western set in 1870s Kansas and high school drama “East Los High.”
