According to The Hollywood Reporter, Machinima purchased commercial time on Easter Sunday to promote their “Mortal Kombat” web series. This makes Machinima the first YouTube network to buy air time on traditional TV.
Machinima’s new web series is a follow up to “Mortal Kombat: Legacy,” one of their most-viewed shows with over 60 million views so far. The 60-second commercial aired during AMC’s “The Talking Dead,” which airs after the popular show “The Walking Dead”.
Machinima Executive VP of Marketing Kevin Doohan told Machinima:
“Connecting to a television event like ‘The Walking Dead’ season finale, a show that our fans are deeply passionate about, will introduce millions more viewers to Machinima.”
