Just announced yesterday, YouTube talent competition series “Internet Icon” will be returning for a second season on the YOMYOMF Network. The series sets out to find new YouTube talent and give them the resources and guidance to improve their channels. Judges Ryan Higa and Christine Lakin will be returning from season one and will be assisted in elimination decisions by rotating judges that include some of YouTube’s biggest names including Smosh, JennaMarbles, PewDiePie, iJustine, KassemG, The Fine Brothers, Phil DeFranco, Shane Dawson, Wong Fu and KevJumba. Ten contestants will begin the show — after judges sift through thousands of creator applications — and then go on to compete in video-making challenges that will conclude each episode with the elimination of one contestant. Episodes of “Internet Icon” season two will begin premiering on May 21st and air Tuesday and Thursday nights at 8 p.m. on the YOMYOMF Network.
Judge Ryan Higa stated in the show’s press release: “We had some great contestants in season one so I was concerned that the quality might dip in season two, but the exact opposite happened. It was close to impossible to narrow down to ten finalists because there was so much talent and it got even tougher from there. I think viewers will be blown away by the contestants.”
The winners of “Internet Icon” season one, The Brothers Riedell, will be hosting the show’s second season and act as mentors for contestants competing for the “Internet Icon” crown. In just the short time since winning season one, which garnered over 10 million video views, the Brothers Riedell have increased their subscriber base from less than 10,000 to now over 100,000 subscribers. During season two, viewers will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite contestant who will be able to automatically return and compete in season three of “Internet Icon.”
