For one week in May, YouTube will become a comedy club of sorts by hosting a festival of comedy videos and live performances.
The Associated Press reported that YouTube will host its first Comedy Week from May 19 to May 25. Comedy Week will feature some of the best comedy content on the video-sharing site, and many of the biggest comedy channels on YouTube like Funny or Die, Jash, CollegeHumor and Epic Meal Time will premiere new material and curate top 10 lists.
YouTube’s Vice President of Marketing Danielle Tiedt said in a statement that YouTube “is the home of comedy for the next generation” and added: “If you like to laugh, come join us during Comedy Week as we celebrate the best of comedy with sketches, pranks, stand-up routines, sit-down routines, parodies, blunders, fails, live shows and unexpected collaborations in a way that only YouTube can.”
The event will kick of Sunday May 19 with live, all-star comedy show on the Comedy Week channel starting at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET. Some mainstream names that will participate in Comedy Week include Sarah Silverman, Rainn Wilson, Seth Rogen, Michael Cera and Vince Vaughn. The tagline for Comedy Week is “This Better Be Funny.” We’re all hoping the same thing.
