YouTube Signs Deal To Become Principal Sponsor of VidCon

YouTube will be the principal sponsor of VidCon for the next two years, according to a report from Variety.

VidCon, founded by the VlogBrothers, Hank and John Green, in 2010, is one of the biggest online video industry conferences in the United States. This year’s VidCon will be at the Anaheim Convention Center from August 1-3.

Tom Pickett, YouTube’s vice president and global head of content operations, told Variety in a statement: “VidCon is a great celebration of and by the online video community. We’re excited to see YouTube creators come together to learn, share and create at such a vibrant and energizing conference.”

VidCon organizers said in February that they anticipate it to be its biggest conference yet with around 10,000 expected visitors. Approximately 7,200 people attended last year’s event, which was triple the amount of 2011’s number of 2,500 visitors.

This year’s special guests include NMR friends, Smosh, Shay Carl, DeStorm Power, Olga Kay, Timothy Delaghetto and many more.

The Super Early Bird and Early Bird passes have already sold out, so two-day community passes are available for $110. Early Bird industry passes are still available for $450.
