The deal will add to Dailymotion’s Bollywood content, which includes more than 500 free and premium movies from Indian entertainment content providers like Shemaroo, Rajshri, Nirvana and others. Besides Bollywood films, Dailymotion also streams films from India’s various regional languages such as Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
In a statement, Dailymotion’s head of EMEA content Marc Eychenne said: “Our new partnership with Venus will provide viewers with access to a wealth of new and classic Bollywood films, wherever they are in the world.”
The French video-streaming site has been courting original web content as well as promoting cinema to differentiate itself from competitors like YouTube. Recent ventures by Dailymotion include plans for a creators’ studio similar to YouTube’s Creator Spaces and a video game competition channel.
