And the Academy Award for best actress goes to … Tardar Sauce for her role in the Grumpy Cat original movie.
Tardar Sauce, the meme queen better know as Grumpy Cat, has landed herself a movie deal with the studio responsible for “Paul Bart: Mall Cop” and “Jack and Jill.” Her very own feature film will reportedly resemble something along the lines of the movie “Garfield” and follow Grumpy Cat as she shares aloud her discontent with the world.
“This started off as a picture of a cat,” states producer Todd Garner. “But rare is an image that evokes that much comedy. You read all of the memes and the comments, and one is funnier than the next. We think we can build a big family comedy around this character.”
In the brief time since she was discovered online in 2012, Grumpy Cat has met with fans at YouTube events such as SXSW, appeared in the documentary “Lil Bub & Friendz” and been named BuzzFeed’s 2013 Meme of the Year. Quite the resume for a cat that just turned 1 year old this April. In her upcoming feature film, Tardar Sauce will play herself, and her manager has promised that no cartoon or CGI versions of the cat will be used in the film. Dates for filming and the movie’s premiere have yet to be released.

[…] Grumpy Cat’s upcoming movie? Tardar Sauce (the cat behind the meme) and her owners can thank Lashes. Or what about Keyboard Cat and that Wonderful Pistachios ad? Also Lashes. We here at NMR can only guess what the musician-turned-agent has in store for Princess Monster Truck — the super cute kitty with the massive underbite. Hell, the cats don’t even have to be “real” for Lashes to work with them — he recently sued Warner Brothers for an unauthorized use of his client “Nyan Cat” (I’d preface that by saying the world’s most annoying digital cat, but if they sued Warner Bros., I gotta believe they’d go after me for libel).
