YouTube, you’re 8 years old now, and boy, oh boy have you grown [wipes away tear]. After eight years of cats playing the keyboard, nonstop dancing, countless epic fails, cats getting stuck in boxes, “Gangnam Style,” the “Harlem Shake” and that time you banned Kate Upton because she did the Cat Daddy (goddamn you) — you’ve gathered some pretty impressive statistics.
For instance, did you know that every minute more than 100 hours of video are uploaded? This translates to around four days of video uploaded every minute according to a recent blog post by YouTube.
In its eighth year, YouTube currently attracts over 1 billion people a month, which to put that mind-blowing number in perspective — the world population right now is just over 7 billion people.
YouTube writes at their blog about this momentous occasion: “And so, on our eighth birthday, we’d like to thank you for making YouTube the special place that it is.”
No, thank you, YouTube. Afterall, without you, the world would never have seen arguably the greatest thing ever created — Turkish Superman.
