NMR’s Look At What’s Showing on YouTube Comedy Week


The first annual YouTube Comedy Week is the video-streaming site’s effort to showcase the best comedic videos that they have to offer. They include parody music videos like “Start a Mumford Band,” the latest episodes of web series commissioned specifically for Comedy Week and live stream events like YouTube Stand-Up Night and CollegeHumor’s All-Nighter. NMR has compiled some upcoming highlights of shows scheduled for the week that includes live streaming events as well as content from comedy superchannel JASH and Above Average Productions, the digital unit of SNL creator Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video company.

Monday, May 20

“YouTube Through History” – Comedy filmmakers Captain Hippo reimagines historical figures as YouTubers, with Marie Antoinette as a how-to vlogger and Genghis Khan as a ukulele musician.

“The History of YouTube” – Although it’s a similar name to “YouTube Through History,” the latest Gregory Brothers video has them discovering how it feels to find out about YouTube for the first time.

Tuesday, May 21

“The Future with Emily Heller” – Kenan Thompson guest stars on stand-up comedian Emily Heller’s show on the Above Average channel.

“Start A Mumford Band” – Complete with banjos, depression-era attire and whimsical mustaches, The Key of Awesome will premiere their latest video that pokes fun of the folk-rock music trend.

“Arscheerio Paul” – Paul Scheer brings back the 90s with his parody talk show for JASH that re-enacts famous Arsenio Hall interview. The special guest for his latest video is Jordan Peele as Tupac Shakur.

Wednesday, May 22

Miles Fisher’s “Finish What We Started” – YouTube sensation Miles Fisher is premiering his latest music video on the Above Average channel. The video, which also features N’SYNC’s Lance Bass and comedian Nick Thune, focuses on taking dance battles to a whole other level.

YouTube Stand-Up Night – Live stream show features rising stand up stars like Kyle Dunnigan, Jim Hamilton, Brody Stevens, Ron Funches, Sean Patton and Todd Womack.

Thursday, May 23

“Thingstarter” – Above Average comedy partners The Bilderbergers are producing a web series that focuses on some unusual apps. This week’s video—the Bilderbergers profile the “iNotRacist” app.

CollegeHumor All-Nighter – The guys at CollegeHumor are bringing their sixth annual marathon sketch show live on YouTube.

Friday, May 24

Set List Live and Comedy Night on YouTube – YouTube celebrates the best in musical comedy for this two-hour live stream.

“You and Your F**king Coffee” – Mike Judge of “Office Space” and “Beavis and Butthead” fame is collaborating with comedian Henry Phillips on a new web series.
