Your music playlist is about to get a sweet makeover.
With the oversaturation of content on YouTube, it is often hard to sift through all the rubble of needless video mashups and animal videos to find the few gems in between. But today I took to digging and found some of the best vocalists working to make it big in the YouTube world. These artists are no longer dreaming of picking up a record deal but looking to the examples of YouTube musicians such as Kurt Hugo Schneider, Tyler Ward and Chester See, pushing to “make it big” on YouTube. From just the short time these artists have been on YouTube — some for only three months — they have already begun developing a loyal fan base and collaborated with YouTubers such as Boyce Avenue, Max Schneider and David Choi. So take some time to enjoy the sweet vocals below, and just a tip from me to you, sit down when you get to number one — they are that good.
7. Jake Coco
Singer-songwriter Jake Coco truly believes that music can express the doctrine of world peace. While his subscriber count is close to 300,000, many of his music videos — such as “Some Nights”– have hit over 14 million views.
6. Andy Lange
Andy is a true do-it-yourself artist who writes, records and produces all his own tracks. An Emmy-nominated film, TV, and video game sound mixer, Andy regularly collaborates with musicians such as Chester See and Taryn Southern.
5. Hannah Trigwell
Although Hannah Trigwell has only been on YouTube for a little over a year, she has already collaborated with big time YouTube musicians such as David Choi, Boyce Avenue and Max Schneider. In 2011, Hannah was named the Best International Unsigned Act at the 2011 St. Helier Online Music Awards and has since signed with 3 Peace Records, a music label started by Boyce Avenue.
4. Corey Gray
An incredibly talented male vocalist, Corey Gray finds inspiration for his music from the chaotic world around him. Corey has three albums under his belt and is constantly filling his YouTube channel with his original music videos and popular song covers.
3. Madilyn Bailey
While she may come from a small town in Wisconsin, 20-year-old Madilyn Bailey has made big waves in the music world after her cover of “Titanium” charted no. 2 on the iTunes U.S. singer, songwriter chart. Her career has taken off since she joined YouTube two years ago and has allowed her to play shows all across the United States.
2. Macy Kate
After trying out for “The X-Factor” in 2012, Macy Kate knew that music was something she wanted to pursue full-time. While she may be new to YouTube, Macy and her band have traveled the country opening for such acts as Aaron Carter, The OMG Girlz and Seven Nations. When she sings, you can’t help but stop and listen.
1. Fifth Harmony
Known as “the fearsome five,” these girls are jaw-droppingly good. Fifth Harmony members Dinah Jane Hansen, Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke, Normani Kordeau, and Camila Cabello first met when they auditioned for “The X-Factor” and became a band after judge Simon put them all together during the show’s boot camp. From there the rest is history.
