A bomb just dropped on the interweb with the rumor mill posting that Maker Studios, home to such talents as Shay Carl, KassemG and Epic Rap Battles is planning to fire up a competitive website to YouTube! That sound you don’t hear is the noise of your eardrums blasting out of your head and into the stratosphere … tell em to say “hi” to Felix Baumgartner.
The rumor, which is all I can call it at this point, comes courtesy of Jason Calacanis’ assertion at this year’s STREAM conference that two YouTube competitors would emerge this fall. Now Video Ink is reporting via an inside source at Maker, that the controversial MCN is going to be heading one of those efforts. When we know more, you’ll know more.
