UPDATED: Congratulations, Equality: The 5 Best Viral Videos Supporting Gay Marriage [VIDEOS]

UPDATE: 6/26/13, 08:12: The Supreme Court issued a 5-4 ruling rejecting DOMA, Prop. 8 — clears the way for gay couples to get married in California. Congrats, world!

With the Supreme Court set to make a key decision today regarding the Defense of Marriage Act [DOMA] and the legality of Prop. 8, we at NMR thought it was an ideal time to steer some last second support in the direction of equality for all.

Sometimes, you don’t realize how important something is until you see it ranked in list form. Now I’m not saying that goes for everyone, but chances are good that some hate-filled country bumpkin bigot will read this list and suddenly have a heart-melting epiphany, where he or she falls to their knees and wails for all the misdeeds they’ve done in this world. I don’t know why, but I get the vibe that many of our readers are hate-filled country bumpkin bigots … maybe I’m wrong, but if I’m not, hoo boy, we’ll definitely get a surefire convert out of this incredibly powerful list.

So don’t just stand there, slack-jawed; spit out your tobacco, put down your protest sign and pay attention to the five best videos supporting gay marriage.

5. “Spring Break Anthem” – The Lonely Island

Whodathunk Spring Break was all about gay marriage? I guess I’ve been missing out on more than I realized all those weeks in April when I sat at home in a plastic kiddie pool and read science fiction erotica. The Lonely Island channels their flamboyant ids to come out in favor of dude-on-dude unions all the while mocking how easy it is to make a fist-pumping “bro” anthem.

4. “The Other Side” – Dan Joseph

Sometimes the best argument for supporting gay marriage is just to listen to the ignorant and faulty views of the other side. Here Dan Joseph sticks a microphone in the face of DOMA supporters’ faces and lets them make assholes of themselves.

3. Daniel Tosh’s Take on Gay Marriage

What I love about Daniel Tosh is that he declines to state whether he is gay or straight, and his show certainly tows the line in both arenas. If he’s gay, he’s making being a gay guy very hip to conservative young men. If he’s straight, he’s doing a damn good job of making people doubt it. And despite what fussy gay people believe — that sort of androgynous celebrity figurehead is doing your side a world of good.
