Love, is there anything better?
It’s the chemical imbalance that makes the sun shine a little brighter and turns even the most cynical of people into giant, whistling Hallmark cards. And while YouTube has arguably become the newest platform for cutting edge web series and personal vlogs, it has also become the home to our generation’s greatest love stories.
What has made these nine YouTube couples truly great is their openness in sharing their relationship with their YouTube family. They’re sweet, they’re crazy about each other, and above all, they are just your average everyday couple who fight and make up like the rest of us. So to give you something new to obsess about, NMR has brought you a list of our top 12 favorite real-life YouTube couples whose nauseatingly cute love has them to YouTube greatness.
12. Austin and Brittany Null
The adorable family behind the Nive Nulls YouTube channel, Austin and Brittany first met in 2007 at a church in Kansas City. Austin was originally too shy to talk with Brittany in person, so the two would message back and forth for three hours a day on Facebook. It only took one hangout for Austin to know he was going to marry Brittany, and six years later the couple are happily living in Los Angeles with their daughter and a baby on the way.
11. Harley Morenstein and Kyla Leon
He calls himself the “Sauce Boss” of Epic Meal Time; she refers to herself as “chola Barbie,” and together, they are the perfectly mismatched couple. An aspiring actress, Harley’s pint-sized girlfriend Kyla has made many appearances on Epic Meal Time, and with her signature tight shirts and high heels, she definitely keeps things hot in the kitchen (p.s. in the video above she is the one in the hot pink heels positioned right in front of Harley).
10. Jesse Wellens and Jeana (PrankvsPrank)
Visiting home while on military leave, Jesse met Jeana at a local restaurant near his house in which Jeana was working as a waitress. From the night of their first date — and first prank — Jesse and Jeana couldn’t get enough of each other. But there was one hitch: Jesse was shipping out in three weeks to serve in Korea for a year. The couple decided to endure a long-distance relationship for a year, and upon his return to the States, the lovebirds moved in together and have been making pranks ever since.
9. Joe Penna and Sarah Penna
Married in 2011, Joe and Sarah Penna hold the title for ultimate social media couple. Better known as MysteryGuitarMan, Joe’s original music and animation videos have made him one of the most prominent creators on YouTube. Not to be outdone by her husband, Sarah is the co-founder of the YouTube network Big Frame and viewed as an authority on the trends and growth of the new media space.
8. Will Shepherd and R.J. Aguiar
It is down right impossible not to fall in love with the blissfully happy, vlog-obsessed couple Will and R.J. Through their work on YouTube, Will and R.J. are on a mission to show the world just how normal gay life can be, and in their daily vlogs, the couple talk about everything from the daily agenda to lubrication to their personal coming out stories.
7. Michael and Carissa Rae Alvarado
The husband and wife musical duo Michael and Carissa Rae Alvarado have captured all their major relationship milestones on their YouTube channel. From Michael’s proposal to Carissa to their backyard wedding, their love and dedication is clearly evident in each YouTube video they make together. Just a year after they first started dating in 2011, Michael and Carissa got married and this year released their debut CD titled “Us.”
6. Charles and Alli Trippy
Charles and Alli Trippy have allowed the internet world a front row seat in the show they call their life. The vlog-obsessed couple have uploaded a video everyday for the past four years — that’s over 1,500 videos — on their channel Internet Killed Television. Congratulations to the loving couple on their upcoming two-year wedding anniversary, and here’s to the 86 more years of vlogging videos to come.
5. Philip DeFranco and Lindsay Jordan Doty (LinzLove)
After five and a half years together, Philip DeFranco still feels like shouting from the rooftops how much he loves his girlfriend. Meeting at a YouTube event in September 2007, Phil uprooted from Miami and moved to Atlanta just three months later to be with Lindsay. The couple credit YouTube for bringing them together and treat fans to intimate looks into their relationships with videos of their daily lives at home.
4. Ray William Johnson and Anna Akana
While Ray William Johnson’s relationship with Maker Studios ended as peacefully as a train collision, his relationship with fellow YouTube vlogger Anna Akana seems to be going better than ever. Since leaving Maker, RWJ and Anna have co-founded the studio Runaway Planet and continue to play off each other’s dick jokes and cat comments in weekly podcasts filmed from the apartment they share. So when will Ray put a ring on it? We can’t help but wonder the same thing.
3. Shay Carl and Colette (Katilette) Butler
It is no mystery how in love Shay Carl is with his Colette Butler. At 21-years-old, while attending the play “Anything Goes” in which Colette was starring, Shay looked up on stage and whispered to his friend, “I’m going to marry that girl.” And one year later, that is exactly what he did. Now proud parents of four kids with a fifth on the way, Shay and Colette continue to spread their love around the YouTube community with their frequent vlogs uploaded to their Shaytards channel.
2. Simon and Martina Eat Your Kimchi
As passionate about travel as they are about each other, Simon and Martina first embarked on YouTube when they moved to South Korea to teach English. To document their time in South Korea together, the couple created the YouTube channel Eat Your Kimchi, which has since become their full-time jobs. Parents to a spotlight-stealing pup named Spudgy and a rascally cat named Dr. Meemersworth, Simon and Martina hope to keep traveling the world together and expanding their “Eat Your” franchise to other countries.
1. Anthony Padilla and Kalel Cullen
Sorry ladies, but this YouTube heartthrob is officially off the market. This weekend, Anthony from Smosh officially proposed to his longtime lady love, YouTube beauty guru Kalel Cullen. Only time will tell what their upcoming Smosh wedding will entail but we do know, it will be the YouTube event of the century.
