Last night marked a monumental milestone for AwesomenessTV as the network debuted the first episode of their new television series “AwesomenessTV” on Nickelodeon. The show is hosted by Nickelodeon alumni Daniella Monet and weaves together popular YouTube videos from the AwesomenessTV channel including clips from their series “Terry the Tomboy” and “Swag Master J.”
Before the premiere episode, Lia Marie Johnson, the star of “Terry the Tomboy,” shared with NMR her excitement about her YouTube content being incorporated into a television show. “At first I was just like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is going on TV! When I first found out, it didn’t really hit me that hard; it still hasn’t really hit me yet,” Johnson said. “I don’t know what’s going to happen tonight when I watch myself. I’m going to be with my family, maybe just laughing at myself the entire time cause I’m just so silly.”
Throughout last night’s premiere, the stars of AwesomenessTV — including Johnson — interacted with fans tuning into the Nickelodeon program through a live tweet held under the hashtag #ATVonNICK. Other YouTubers involved in the live tweet included Justin Stuart (JStuStudios), Teala Dunn, Chester See, Brittani Louise Taylor, Nikki Phillippi and Joey Graceffa.
“I like how we all get to have this moment — it’s silly how I feel about this — but we’re all going to be together kind of watching it, almost together cause we’re all going to be live tweeting it,” said Johnson.
“My entire life I’ve always wanted to do TV and movies so the fact that it’s finally happening. I didn’t really even see it coming because I didn’t audition to be on a TV show — it just kind of fell into place.”
New episodes of “AwesomenessTV” will air on Nickelodeon every Monday at 8 p.m. PST.
