Machinima Series ‘Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn’ Gets Emmy Nomination for ‘Best Main Title Design’

While the entertainment world woke up to the fact that Netflix’s original series “House of Cards” and “Arrested Development” earned 14 nominations for the 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, the YouTube community can also count their blessings.

Machinima sci-fi web series “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” has clinched an Emmy nomination for—wait for it—Best Main Title Design. It will compete with “The Newsroom,” “Elementary,” “Vikings,” “American Horror Story: Asylum” and “Da Vinci’s Demons” for the prize.

While it isn’t being recognized for its storyline or its acting performances, “Halo 4’s” nomination is still a significant milestone for the YouTube community, as the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences are increasingly recognizing online video content.

The Emmy Awards have recognized YouTube content creators before though. Last year, The Fine Bros won a special Daytime Emmy for “AOL Best Viral Video” for their “Kids React to Nyan Cat” video.

“Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn,” which is based on the video game “Halo 4,” got multiple nominations at the 2013 Streamy Awards and won awards for Best Drama Series, Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Production Design.

Will “Halo 4” make YouTube history with a Primetime Emmy win? Find out during the 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on September 15.
