NSFW: Police Gun Down A Dog After Arresting Its Owner – Is It Right? [VIDEO]

Mostly we don’t report on brutal videos or street fights or violence for violence’s sake. We’re a peaceful wholesome people who like dogs wearing pantyhose or babies playing in the pool. So that is why it is almost frustrating when a video like this one starts making major waves and screwing up everyone’s happy mood.

This video shows a dog being horribly executed in the street after the police place the dog’s owner under arrest for filming them during a house raid in Hawthorne, California. The dog, a rottweiler, is seen sniffing around on its leash carefree, moments before being gunned down after escaping from a car window to help its detained owner.

This is, like anything else sad, a tragedy. We bring it to you because we are compelled forward only in seeking that justice be done, whatever that entails. I don’t like when the cops arrest people just for filming them — that should be a violation of the first amendment — but I don’t know enough about police procedure to comment about what is correct in regards to this dog being gunned down. I suspect we will be hearing a lot more about this incident, because videos like this show the other use of YouTube — sure it is a hub of silly videos, but it is also a collection of social conscious-raising videos.

Watch the video, don’t watch the video — it really doesn’t matter. What does matter in the long run, is that during this time where privacy and fairness are being questioned, we have a place where videos like this can be viewed by the general public. Hopefully better resolutions can be enacted and formed for future actions, otherwise what is the point?
