In memory of her 13-year-old sister’s passing, Talia’s older sister, Mattia, has uploaded a video onto Talia’s YouTube channel to share the news of her sister’s passing and thank fans for their ongoing support.
Talia Joy Castellano made a name for herself as the YouTube beauty guru whose bravery in the face of her cancer inspired millions of people around the world. Talia always hated wearing wigs, so when her hair started falling out from radiation and chemotherapy treatments, Talia started using makeup and created her own personal motto, “Makeup is my wig.” In March, doctors told Talia she had only months to live; on July 16, 2013, tended by her mother and sister, Talia passed away.
In the recent video upload, Mattia tearfully promises to accomplish all the dreams her sister couldn’t, and with the help of her mother, Mattia will document her journey on her own YouTube channel and on the Facebook page Angels for Talia.
Today, family and friends will gather for Talia’s private funeral service and have issued a statement on Facebook:
“Talia’s love and light brought people together from all over the world, all races, all religions, all genders and all ages. In the short time Talia’s been with us, she inspired people to live their life to the fullest and to love themselves as they are. In Talia’s personal life, she was a typical teenage girl who, loved her friends, dancing, music, fashion, shopping, going to the beach, texting on her phone, watching YouTube, social media and loved reading about the latest celebrity news and gossip.”
Information regarding a public tribute to be held in Talia’s honor on August 18th — the day that would have been her 14th birthday — will be announced in the next couple weeks on her Facebook page Angels for Talia.
