Tumblr Urges iOS Users To Update App Immediately Due to Security Breach

Tumblr has announced on its blog Tuesday an important security update to its iPhone and iPad apps in response to an issue that compromised users’ passwords.

In his blog post, Tumblr’s Vice-President of Product Derek Gottfrid urged app users to download the update immediately: “If you’ve been using these apps, you should also update your password on Tumblr and anywhere else you may have been using the same password.”

Although the company has declined to go into details about the security issue, a Tumblr spokesman acknowledged to The Next Web that they were aware of the problem that same day, which prompted them to create a fix for the app.

Tumblr also has an app for Android devices, but no update is available at the moment. This means the issue only affects Apple devices.
