Usually, when someone goes off-kilter at a party trying to recount important historical events while very intoxicated, the quick response is “Go home, you’re drunk.” However, the guys at Funny or Die found a few of those drunk people and filmed it for all to see. And it turns out these plastered historians on the web series “Drunk History” are hilarious at recounting events like the friendship between Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass and when Elvis met President Richard Nixon.
Derek Waters’ hilarious viral web series has evolved into a new sitcom for Comedy Central. Starting tonight, the cable channel will premiere “Drunk History,” and much like the web series version, the Comedy Central version will feature excessively drunk people as they try to coherently recount a historical event. Costumed actors re-enact the events and lip-sync the narrator’s dialogue word for word.
